Area Residents Raise Over
$300,000 In Cancer Walk

The American Cancer Society announced that more than $300,000 was raised at its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® event October 26 at Harbor Park/Elizabeth River Trail in Norfolk. More than 3,500 walkers turned out on a rainy Saturday for the 3K walk to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about the importance of early detection and prevention and raise money to fund lifesaving research and support programs to further the progress against this disease.

Church group holds banner in support of cancer victims and survivors.

The American Cancer Society uses the money raised at Making Strides events to fund lifesaving breast cancer research, provide up-to-date breast cancer information, ensure all women have access to breast cancer screening and treatments—regardless of income—and to provide services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
It is not too late to make a donation to the Hampton Roads’ Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
