Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. Honors Nurses At Luncheon

 

The members of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., the professional Nursing Organization and its Eta Chapter held its 11th Annual Glowing Lamp for the Nurse Awards Luncheon Sunday afternoon May 4, 2008 at the Norfolk Airport Hilton Hotel in Norfolk, VA.
  Sandra Olanitori served as the mistress of ceremony, and Catina Davis gave the welcome and occasion. The invocation and grace were offered by Eula Davis. Entertainment was provided by four talented youth who are in the NAACP Area II ACT-SO as Olympic Gold Medalist. Two scholarships were awarded, and they were named after sorority members. The Josephine McBride Book Scholarship and the Fostine Riddick Roach Scholarship were given to nursing students Lcstar Carpenter and Sashana Mills.
  The young ladies who received the Glowing Lamp Awards were the following Registered Nurses: Carol Burton, Lisa Cashwell, Carrie Claud, Debra Dixon. Valencia Jackson, Nicey A. Kearney, Jacqueline Kelly, Blanch McCoy, Lisa McGee, Nikosha Quinerly, Peria Soda, Tiffany Thompson, Teresa Walden, Robin Ward, Margo Wilson and Sandra Young..

    Narrators were Joyce Sample, Glenda Moore and Shirley Southerland. Margo Wilson gave the salute on behalf of the honorees, and Eula Davis modeled the nurses attire from yesteryear, much to the delight of the audience.

  Several other awards were given. Jean McNair Watson, R.N. was honored as the Soror of the Year; she received flowers and a serenade. Berthenia Cromwell was honored as the Unsung Hero for her community service work. 

  Retired R.N,’s Janie Cooke and Helen Copeland were honored for having been members for 63 years.
  Josephine McBride, a charter member who will be 100 in August, received a silver plaque for being the most dedicated active member.
  Awards were also given to the most active new member, the reactivated member, and the new secretary of the chapter.
  Glenda Braswell-Moorc, CRNAP, the Basileus of Eta Chapter, gave the closing remarks and acknowledgements.
