Eureka Debs Create Valentines
At Edmarc Hospice for Children
Portsmouth—On Saturday, February 9, The Eureka Club, Inc., Debutante Class of 2008 gathered at Edmarc Hospice for Children on London Street in Portsmouth to create special valentines for more than 100 Edmarc children and their family members.
The Eureka Club, Inc., established in October of 1915 by A. David Sanford, Horace Savage, Sr., Earl Coston, Jerome Laws, Albert Gosprey and several other civic minded gentlemen, has an established history of connecting its members and debutantes with our local community. The 25 young ladies selected for this year’s Eureka Debutante Cotillion plan to take part in several volunteer opportunities in the community.
Their first project with Edmarc will be followed by a project with seniors at the Maryview Nursing Center in Suffolk on March 14.
Edmarc Hospice, a local non-profit United Way Agency, works regionally to ensure that no child or family is denied pediatric hospice services. Their mission is to ease the trauma of a child’s illness or death, and to reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss, and bereavement on families. Their mission and that of the Portsmouth Eureka Club are much the same.
