For the past three years a Foster has won the Eastern District Singles Tennis title. One news report even called it the “Foster Invitational Tennis Tournament.” Older Sister Brittany Foster won the title in 2006. Younger sister Ashley Foster won the title in 2007 and 2008. The sisters also teamed up to win the 2006 doubles title as well.
In the 2006 final, Brittany had to play Ashley for the title. That match is believed to be the league’s first sibling vs. sibling rivalry. In this year’s final, Ashley credits her father, Dr. Laguna O. Foster, with helping her. She was very apprehensive about the match. “My daddy called me that morning and said no matter what happens, he loved me.” After that, Ashley said she felt better. In the finals that afternoon, Ashley overpowered her opponent in less than an hour, defeating her 6-0, 6-0
The Foster Sisters are the daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Laguna O. Foster of Norfolk, VA and granddaughters of Dr. and Mrs. John H. Foster of Norfolk and of Mrs. Shelby Madison Taylor also of Norfolk.
