Area Magazine To Host GED Grad Ceremony
A local inspirational magazine for women will host a special graduation ceremony on May 15 at the Murray Center in Norfolk for persons receiving GED degrees.
Breathe Again Magazine, an online magazine founded by Nicole Cleveland, will host its 1st Annual “I Made It” Ceremony, with Delegate Kenneth Alexander (D) 89th District, as the keynote speaker.
Cleveland said she was inspired to host the ceremony by a 17-year-old who recently passed his GED test. After family members congratulated him, he said, “It’s not like we have a ceremony or anything, it doesn’t really mean anything. No one really cares.”
“Just like we expose the negative”, says Cleveland, “we must start celebrating the victories with these young adults—they are our future.
“As a community we must come together and celebrate them. We come together for gang awareness meetings and crime. But rarely do we come together when a life is turned around,” says Cleveland.
Breathe Again Magazine is in need of sponsors to help celebrate the graduates. Interested persons or companies may contact Nicole Cleveland at 757-404-1582.
