   All of the 2,000 honor students were recognized, many received special plaques for their extraordinary work. Over 800 students had a grade point average of 3.5 and above. As a graduate of Hampton, it was indeed a blessing for me, your reporter, to be there to support my grand daughter who is now an Honors Senior at Hampton.
    As always, the program ended with the singing of the traditional and motivating Hampton Alma Mater Song with the words from the refrain:
“0 Hampton, we never can make thee a song,
   Except as our lives do the singing;
In service that will thy great spirit prolong,
And send it through centuries ringing!”
