Joint Founders Day For Iota Phi Lambda Chapters In Hampton

 The Holiday Inn on West Mercury Blvd. in Hampton was the site of the joint Founders Day of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. Saturday, June 7. with the Hampton Chapter. Gamma Zeta as host. Mrs. Yvonne Perry, president of the host chapter, presided; she brought greetings and recognition. Mrs. Gertrude Powell, national treasurer of Iota rendered the grace. After lunch, Mrs. Catherine Winston, assistant Eastern regional director read the Founder’s Day message. A number of other sorority members participated in the traditional Founder’s Day ceremony
  Mrs. Charlotte Maull, the immediate past national president, gave reflections. Ayanna Reid led the singing of the Founder’s Day Song and the Sorority Song. Two charter members of the Hampton chapter were recognized for their many years of devoted service; they were Mesdames Gladys Ford and Lillie Jones. They received special gifts from their chapter.
  In addition to members of the Hampton chapter, sorority members were present from the Gamma Delta Chapter in Richmond, the Epsilon Eta Chapter in Gloucester and the
Alpha Chi Chapter in Norfolk.
  Each member in attendance received a special green tote with an inscribed turtle, the sorority’s mascot.
