Finally - U.S. Removes Mandela From Terrorist List

(Taylor Media Services) A wide range of movie stars and other celebrities joined 40,000 others in London’s Hyde Park Friday to celebrate the 90th birthday of the man who led the struggle to rid South Africa of white minority rule – Nelson Mandela. Mandela spent 27 years in prison because of his efforts to overthrow apartheid – the South African system of racial suppression – but in the mid-1990s he became country’s first Black elected president.
The aging revolutionary leader told the gathering, “As we celebrate, let us remind ourselves that our work is far from complete. Where there is poverty and sickness, including AIDS, where human beings are being oppressed, there is more work to be done.”
Amazingly, the U.S. government labeled Mandela a “terrorist” because of his efforts to end white minority rule in South Africa. He was not formally removed from the nation’s terrorists watch list until last week when the U.S. Senate followed the House and deleted all references to him as a terrorist from U.S. databases. Mandela actually turns 90 on July 18th.
