While traditional female jobs such as preschool teacher, home health aide, or hairdresser pay from $14,900 to $22,420, non-traditional careers pay more.
For example salaries range from about $32,000 to $58,00 for careers in civil engineering, welding, tractor-trailer trucker, computer systems, and police officers, according to 2006 U.S. Labor Department records.
