Tom Joyner Foundation
Brings Campaign To HU

Hampton, Va.—Hampton University kicks off its Tom Joyner Foundation “School of the Month” fundraising campaign today (January 24).
This festive event includes check presentations to Hampton University from local businesses, comments from a representative of the Tom Joyner Foundation and entertainment by the Hampton University pep band and cheerleaders.
The Tom Joyner Foundation, a major driving force in raising money for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) since 1998, has kicked off an aggressive fundraising scholarship campaign for Hampton University.
The Foundation, formed by the nationally syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner, said Hampton University was chosen as part of its on-going effort to assist these HBCUs in broadening and strengthening their efforts to raise money to help keep students at these institutions.
Hampton University has been chosen as the “School of Month” for October 2008 and will be featured on the Tom Joyner Show, which airs locally on 105.3 KISS FM, that month.  The University in partnership with the Tom Joyner Foundation will raise funds through October. The Foundation has raised more than $25 million over the past seven years to help thousands of students at some 80 colleges.
