In his first interview since the controversy over his sermons erupted last month, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright will speak publicly to journalist Bill Moyers in a televised interview scheduled to air on Friday.
The interview, to be broadcast on Bill Moyers Journal on PBS, marks the first time the Chicago-based minister has spoken out since his sermons became a controversy in the presidential campaign. Rev. Wright is the former senior pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, which counts Barack Obama as a member.

The interview also marks the beginning of several public appearances by Rev. Wright. Wright is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the NAACP Detroit Branch on Sunday, April 27 and is scheduled to speak at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. the following day.
Moyers is himself a member of the UCC and attends Riverside Church in New York City. Last year, Moyers and Obama were among the presenters at the UCC's 50th anniversary General Synod, according to the church.
