Portsmouth Las Amigas Chapter Hosts Regional Holiday Celebration

   The Portsmouth Chapter of Las Amigas, Incorporated recently hosted the Tidewater Central Region’s Holiday Celebration at the Drydock Club in Portsmouth, Virginia.
   Special guests at this celebration included: the National President of the organization: Joann Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina; the Regional Director: Frances Robinson of
Richmond, Virginia; Immediate Past President: Ethel Hart of Suffolk, Virginia; Marian Norcott-Langley, organizer of the first chapter in the region; Past National Presidents: Dr. Edna
Diggs of Hampton and Linda Lawrence of Portsmouth. Other chapter members in attendance included Newport News/Hampton Chapter and Suffolk Chapter.
   Mrs. Lula Phillips, mother of charter member, Lessie Holland Harris, was honored during the celebration with a special plaque for her loyal support of the chapter. Mrs. Phillips has attended every activity that has been sponsored by the chapter since it was organized. All of the Supporters (significant others and husbands of the chapter members) received special recognition for their faithfulness to the organization. Mr. Horace Williams, husband of the National President was also given special recognition.
   In a beautiful Christmas setting, the guests enjoyed dinner, entertainment and an evening of dancing to the music of Joe Form. The members of the planning committee for this affair were: Mable Tyson, Chairperson, Gwen Cooper, Jean Eason, Shirley Ferebee and Thelma Stewart.
   The members of the Portsmouth Chapter are: Cynthia Armstead, Lucy Cogdell, Gwendolyn Cooper, Janet Dennis, Jean Eason, Shirley Ferebee, Linda Gray, Helen Gunn, Pearline Harmon, Lessie Holland Harris, Sheryl Harris, Linda Lawrence, Zeler Raspberry, Rosa Scott, Linda Staton, Thelma Stewart, Pearl Tanner, Mable Tyson, Tammy Warren and Dorothy Wiggins.
   Shirley Ferebee is President of the Portsmouth Chapter of Las , Inc.
