Sex Scandal Leaves Future Of Detriot Mayor In Limbo

   The exposure of an apparent affair between Detroit’s Black Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his chief of staff Christine Beatty has the potential of forcing the resignation of one of the nation’s youngest big city mayors. The problem results from the fact that Kilpatrick denied the affair under oath during a civil case last year. That denial, if proven to be false, is what could lead to Kilpatrick losing his law license and being force to resign as mayor. 
    Both Kilpatrick and Beatty were married at the time of the alleged affair. The scandal became public knowledge last week when the Detroit Free Press revealed a whopping 14,000 flirtatious and often sexually graphic messages between Kilpatrick and Beatty. Both are 37 and had known one another since high school. In one text message, the two declared that they were “madly in love.”
