Step Show As Part Of National Tour Stops At Ted Constant Center

The 2008 Boost Mobile “Stomping On The Yard” National Step Show Tour will make its first stop at Old Dominion University on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 5 p.m. The step show will be held at Ted Constant Convocation Center, located on 45th Street and Monarch Way, and will be hosted by Terrence J. from BET’s 106 & Park.
Local Fraternity and Sorority step teams will be in competition in the fifth annual national step show tour which started in the Fall of 2003. It has since grown to entertain crowds of thousands all across college campuses.
“Stepping is great,” says Chris Crawford, CEO and Founder of the Stomping On The Yard National Step Show Tour. “But we like to think stepping is the honey to get people interested in education. If high school students see the different National Pan Hellenic Members having fun, working together and positively impacting their communities in groups that you can only be a part of if you’re in college, maybe they’ll want to go.”

Since its inception in 2003, Stomping On The Yard has awarded over $288,000 in prizes and awards to campus organizations. In that time, the tour also has been able to entertain over 250,000 audience members with electrifying performances.
Each tour stop features two components a Yard Festival and Step Show Competition. Prior to the step show competition the host university will hold a Yard Festival; activities on campus that include live artist performances, interactive games, vehicle displays and product demonstrations. The second component of the tour will feature a Step Show during which local Fraternities, Sororities and campus organizations showcase their skills on stage in front of enthusiastic audiences.
The 2008 Spring Tour Schedule travels to California State University Long Beach, April 12; Morgan State University, April 25; University Of Pennsylvania, April 26; Winston Salem State University, April 26; and The Ohio State University, May 2-3.
